2000-01 Bean Town Browns
- Point Guards: R. Strickland, A. Carter; Strickland
is the man with the ball and he is a seasoned veteran who will help this
young expansion team grow. Strickland is one of the top 5 PG's in the game.
Carter is an ok guard, but seems to have a focusing problem above 10 feet
with a .395 shooting percentage. He has decent defense for a backup, let
hope Strickland stays healthy. Rating:
6.5/10.0
- Shooting Guards: A. Houston, J. Stackhouse; These
two people put the shooting into shooting guard, neither of them are afraid
to shoot, but if I had my choice, Houston (1271 shots) would get the green
light more than Stackhouse (1447 shots). Houston is definitely in there for
his offense, while Stackhouse is in there for the defense. Stackhouse better
not be handling the ball that much, because his team leading 311 turnovers
will kill this team, if his .428 won't do it first.. Rating 5.0/10.0
- Small Forwards: R. Patterson, J. Wallace; By far
the weakest position on the team. Patterson is an unproven player who has
good all around numbers but is entering his first year in the GLBA. I don't
think he will get the opportunity to shoot that much, but with the teams
best .536 shooting percentage, he better get his shots too. Wallace gets a
token mention because he only has 798 minutes, that's enough about Wallace.
Person should see some time here to help Patterson with the growing
pains. Rating 6.0/10.0
- Power Forwards: E. Brand, M. Rose; Brand is
probably the best reason to trade Duncan. Brand takes the shots (1306), he
gets fouled (536 FT attempts) and he rebounds like a mad man (810). He
should lead this team in scoring by rebounding all of Stackhouse misses.
With all that hype, Brand can't do it alone. There are other players who can
help, like Rose, but if the game is on the line, The big E better be on the
floor. Rating 6.5/10.0
- Centers: J. Feick, M. Olowokandi; Olowokandi came
over in the Duncan trade and has allot of potential. His numbers are low for
a starter of 77 games in the NBA and his defense is average at best. Neither
Feick or Olowokandi can shoot, but they can rebound to help Brand out. The
center position on this team can be played by 7 players but they are all
average players. Rating 5.0/10.0
- Bench: Other than PG, this team is loaded with flexibility.
Should be interesting to see how Kyle uses the manager profile on this team.
He has options to match up with any team. Rating
8.5/10.0
- Management: Kyle is a first time owner to the
GLBA. He was handicapped at the beginning by not being able to attend the
special expansion draft, but he quickly made up for it by trading arguably
the best player in the league for 3 serviceable players that have tremendous
potential. Although it is hard to imagine why a person would want to trade
Tim Duncan, it has become apparent that his team needed more than a PF/C to
compete. Will it be enough? Only time will tell, but so far, Kyle's future
looks pretty good as a GLBA owner. Rating:
5.0/10.0
- Total rating: 42.5/70.0
- Predicted Record and Finish: 36-36, 3rd Place
