2000-01 East Lyme J-Train
- Point Guards: A. Johnson, T. Best; Johnson is an
average PG at best. For the amount of minutes he played, he doesn't have
many assists (491). He does shoot pretty good but he only shot a surprising
1-9 from the 3pt line. His defense is a little above average. Best is the
key here, he doesn't have many minutes (1691) but he does shoot well and he
is better than above average in defense. Rating:
5.5/10.0
- Shooting Guards: M. Sealy, J. Jackson; Hmm, the
league wonders why East Lyme would select Sealy (may he rest in peace). East
Lyme definitely lost out by not being around in the first round and the
computer thought Sealy would help him out. Sealy does have decent numbers
for being deceased. Jackson helps out here because he has a heart beat, but that's
where we draw the line. We can only hope Jerl has plans for someone else to
play here. Rating 1.0/10.0
- Small Forwards: R. Artest, S. Marion; I can see it
now, Artest will be flying around covering anybody and everybody. He doesn't
shoot very well and he has too many turnovers compared to assists. Marion
will help out, but with only 1260 minutes, one can wonder how long it will
be before Marion and the rest of this teams SF expire. The other 2 SF on
this team has a total of 1200 minutes. This position has the potential to be
very good for years to come, but for this year, East Lyme may be
struggling Rating 3.5/10.0
- Power Forwards: T. Hill, S. Kemp; Well, well. Look
at what we have here. 2 of the best bangers in the league. This team
represents themselves very well at PF. Not too many teams can supply this
type of one - two punch. If Kemp can stay out of foul trouble (371 fouls),
this team might be competitive every night. Doesn't look good if the player
with the most shots on the team (1160) shoots .417. It is believed how Kemp
goes, East Lyme will go. Rating
5.5/10.0
- Centers: D. Robinson, Potapenko; East Lyme will
not get embarrassed here. 2 quality centers, with a shooting touch and an
eye for the rebound. This is the strength of the team. Robinson is tied on
this team in scoring and is the best shooter. 183 blocks isn't too bad
either. Potapenko is a very good center with only the potential to get
better. Rating 8.0/10.0
- Bench: This is another expansion team, but East
Lyme did a terrible job of filling a bench, all their bench players have
less than 2000 minutes and there is only 1 backup at PG. One can question if
Jerl knew what this league was all about. He may need to make some trades to
get him some minutes. Rating
2.5/10.0
- Management: Jerl is a first time owner to the
GLBA. It seems from his drafting that he didn't understand how the GLBA
works. The commissioner takes some responsibly for that. It seemed he
drafted for players he thought would do well this year in the NBA. That's
all fine and good, but he has to field a team this year in the GLBA. Jerl
has become better and better each week in noticing what he needs to compete
and owning a team he likes. Not being present for the first two rounds of
the draft really hurt him. If he sticks with it and manages his team each
game, I see no reason why Jerl can't surprise everyone and make a run at the
5th playoff spot. But, are there too many "ifs"? Rating:
6.5/10.0
- Total rating: 32.5/70.0
- Predicted Record and Finish: 15-57, 4th Place
