2000-01 East St. Louis Convicts
- Point Guards: E. Snow, S. Cassell; Cassell is not
a prototypical point guard, he shoots too much (1170) and he has an
astonishing 267 turnovers. The good thing about him is that he does shoot a
respectable .466 from the floor and he has 729 assists. Cassell plays
defense with a red cape. On the other hand, Eric Snow is almost the exact
opposite of Cassell, except he does have respectable assists numbers (624).
Snow is one of the best on defense. Rating:
6.5/10.0
- Shooting Guards: R. Allen, T. Abdul-Wahad; Allen
is a solid SG. His numbers are above average and he doesn't slack on defense
either. Abdul-Wahad compliments Allen very well, especially defensively.
Rating 7.0/10.0
- Small Forwards: S. Abdur-Rahim, A. Mason; Doesn't
get any better at the SF position then these two. Abdur-Rahim is solid at
every stat except maybe turnovers (249). Mason is an enforcer, and his stats
are not too shabby either. Maybe the best rebounding SF's in the league.
With over 3000 minutes a piece, no one else should see time in this
position. Long nights ahead for opposing SF's. Rating 8.5/10.0
- Power Forwards: T. Gugliotta, 5 others; Maybe the Achilles
heal of East St. Louis. Sure Gugliotta has good numbers, but with only 1767
minutes, one can only wonder what Vince will do. Mason and Abdur-Rahim can
also play PF, and he does have 5 other options to play this position and
they are all very capable of contributing. Just as long as they stay out of
Mason's or Abdur-Rahims way, this team will be fine. Rating
6.5/10.0
- Centers: H. Grant, T. Ratliff; These are two
power forwards playing the center position. Sure, defensively they can get
the job done, but their rebounding is not where it needs to be.
Ratliff only has 1795 minutes, but that shouldn't be a problem because Vince
has 2 other players who can also help out. Grant doesn't intimidate
like Ratliff and his shooting is average. At 6-10, Grant will be beaten by
most centers this year. Rating 5.5/10.0
- Bench: Vince might be little tight in the back
court, but his front court is strong and flexible. If this team stays away
from injuries and Abdur-Rahim and Mason don't burn out, this team has a
chance to be in the playoffs and do some damage. Rating
6.5/10.0
- Management: Vince has been an owner since 1997
(2nd year of the GLBA). He had arguably his worst year last year. To Vince's credit, he fought to the
end. Vince is always willing to talk deal and talk basketball when he's
online and submits profiles when needed. Vince is a model GLBA owner. We are
glad to have him. He may have drafted himself a playoff team this year to
help his all-star Abdur-Rahim. Rating:
9.0/10.0
- Total rating: 49.5/70.0
- Predicted Record and Finish: 48-24, 2nd Place
