2000-01 Magic Men
- Point Guards: B. Knight, C. Ward; Knight has
proven to be a very reliable PG, although his stats don't prove it. He is a
terrible shooter (.412) and he doesn't like to shoot the 3-pointer
(2-10). Knight does have a disappointing number of assists, (458). But
again, stats may not tell the story with Knight. Other PG's are going to
have a tough time scoring against Knight. Ward is a warrior, he isn't a
fantastic shooter, but not a bad sub. Coles is available if you want
continued pressure on defense. Rating:
7.0/10.0
- Shooting Guards: E. Jones, M. Richmond;
Jones maybe the "x" factor on this team. He has suffocating
defense and can steal a wallet from a naked man. Richmond's stats are down,
but many teams would love to have a guy of Richmond's caliber coming off the
bench. Rating 8.5/10.0
- Small Forwards: G. Rice, 6 others; Rice is always
a threat to score, but this team will lose if the opponent's SF is any good
at all. Rice could not guard a safe with no money in it. The only question
McCloud has is, "Where is the 3-point line?" There is one thing
going for Wayne here, he does have flexibility. Rating 6.0/10.0
- Power Forwards: L. Johnson, K. Thomas; Has
Johnson's days past him? LJ has average numbers but his rebounds are not
where it should be for a PF. Thomas was the steal of the draft. He has as
many rebounds (505) as his shooting % (.505) and he's not afraid to tell you
he is on the floor with 278 fouls in 1971 minutes. Defense is right up there
too. Rating 6.5/10.0
- Centers: S. O'Neal, I. Austin;
Superman has entered the building. The best center in the league and
probably the best player in the league. O'Neal will flat out beat you. He is
dominating in all categories, except FT% obviously (.524). If he doesn't lay
a 40 on you, he will play a little defense (the best available, all 6's) and
block a few shots (239). Oh, almost forgot, he has 299 assist too. Austin?
Who cares? Wayne could have Will Perdue at center and the rating would be
the same. Heck, Wayne could be O'Neal's backup and the rating wouldn't
change. Rating 9.0/10.0
- Bench: Wayne has some options here. He had to
scramble to get another PG late in the draft, but other than that, he has
decent subs. The key here is that he can play a player at every position
with no lower than a 5 defensively on the floor. That in itself if
amazing. Rating 7.0/10.0
- Management: Wayne is in his 2nd year in the GLBA.
He is the only member of the league who doesn't have AIM. (Though he says
he's trying....wink wink) He knows the game, there is no question in that,
but he needs to roll up his sleeves and take this team to the championship
series. All the pieces are in place. He has organized the best defensive
team the GLBA has seen since 1997-98. Let's hope he can steal some time to
monitor his team. Rating:
5.0/10.0
- Total rating: 49.0/70.0
- Predicted Record and Finish: 45-27, 2nd Place
